Entitlement

with No Comments

An entitlement is a provision made in accordance with a legal framework of a society. Typically, entitlements are based on concepts of principle (“rights”) which are themselves based in concepts of social equality or enfranchisement.

In recent decades the meaning of the word has been extended to encompass informal expectations of social relationships, social conventions and social norms which are considered unreasonable or unduly prescriptive upon others.

Socialized Equality

An entitlement attitude can lead people to embrace socialism.

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets to idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, then the end of a nation is near. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

Minimum Wage

The U.S.minimum wage is designed to ensure people are not taken advantage for minimal skill jobs. The minimal skill jobs are not meant as careers, they are for students etc. It is true that raising a family on minimum wage is not feasible, but again, that is not what is intended. In order to earn more, skills must be developed and used.

Happiness

Happiness is not a result, it is a choice.

“The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.”

— Benjamin Franklin

Doctors don’t make you healthy.
Teachers don’t make you learn.
Trainers don’t make you fit.
Coaches don’t make you rich.
At some point you have to understand that this life is 100% your responsibility.
