During the Donald Trump impeachment hearing, REP Adam Schiff (California democrat on the “Intelligence” Committee) quoted information that was NOT in the phone conversation memo and later admitted that he quoted part of the phone conversation falsely. This is an example of putting false information our there for the purpose of misleading people. It leverages the reality that people will hear and believe what he states as ‘fact’ and not hear the later retraction. This was not a mistake on his part, it was a purposeful plant of false information to further an agenda.
His false quote was “I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good, I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand, lots of it, on this and on that, I’m going to put you in touch with people”. This was not what was said.
