COVID-19 Cure

Perhaps it makes sense to treat the outlying conditions brought on bu COVID-19

Mainstream scientist are working to defeat the virus with a vaccine, and dismissing the reported treatments (hydroxychloroquine, zinc & azithromycin). Perhaps the treatments are defeating the bacteria that flourishes because of the virus. By defeating the bacteria, the body can defeat the virus in most cases. While nothing is 100% effective, perhaps if treatment starts early, most people will survive and have less illness.

Chloroquine is an antimalarial drug that was developed in 1934. Hydroxychloroquine, an analogue of chloroquine, was developed in 1946 and is used to treat autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis. In general, hydroxychloroquine has fewer and less severe toxicities (including less propensity to prolong the QTc interval) and fewer drug-drug interactions than chloroquine. [2]

An epidemiology professor at the Yale School of Public Health said hydroxychloroquine could save 100,000 lives from the coronavirus but added that the controversial anti-malaria drug has instead been used in a “propaganda war.” [1]

“There are many doctors that I’ve gotten hostile remarks about, saying that all the evidence is bad for it, and, in fact, that is not true at all,” Risch said, claiming the medication can be used as a “prophylactic” for front-line workers. [1]

“All the evidence is actually good for it when it is used in outpatient uses. Nevertheless, the only people who actually see that are a whole pile of doctors who are on the front lines treating those patients across the country, and they are the ones who are at risk of being forced not to do it,” Risch said. [1]

The use of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of COVID-19 was not associated with harm or benefit in a large observational study. [2]

Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have been found to be efficient on SARS-CoV-2, and reported to be efficient in Chinese COV-19 patients. [3]

A French survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin. [3]

Note that President Donald Trump does not gain financially by promoting hydroxychloroquine. Trump’s financial stake in these companies is virtually negligible — contained indirectly via mutual funds — and administered through three family trusts he does not control. As a generic drug, hydroxychloroquine is unlikely to provide any one company with significant profits compared to other proprietary drugs. [4]

Reporting against the treatment

A large, retrospective, observational study that evaluated the use of hydroxychloroquine has shown no evidence of benefit in patients with COVID-19. Clinical outcomes in that study included death and the need for mechanical ventilation. Reports have documented serious dysrhythmias in patients with COVID-19 who were treated with chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine, often in combination with azithromycin and other medicines that prolong the QTc interval. Given the risk of dysrhythmias, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautions against the use of chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19 outside of a hospital or clinical trial.2 When chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine is used, clinicians should monitor the patient for adverse effects (AEs), especially prolonged QTc interval (AIII).
