Gun Control
The topic of gun control will likely not go away soon. The media is banking on the polar feelings of the American people. Perhaps the mass shootings would not happen as often if the media did not glorify the events. Reporting that something happened and downplaying the sensational details might lessen the actions of the bad actors that are looking for a bit of glory (which the media is providing).
What is Gun Control?
“Gun Control” does not mean what you think it does. It means only the state will have guns if you think that's a good idea you need to read a history book. Anyone who tries to restrict your legally owned firearms is not trying to make America safer. The point is to disarm you and strip you of your autonomy, your power, your right to self-defense. Gun control is not about guns. Gun control is about who controls America.
Second Amendment
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects an individual right to keep and bear arms and the right to a well-regulated militia. It was ratified on 15 Dec 1791, as part of the Bill of Rights.
The Second Amendments means no more than that it shall not be infringed by Congress, and has no other effect than to restrict the powers of the National Government.

Do Guns Kill People?
The notion that guns are killing people is just a short-sighted view of the situation. Some gun control advocates blame guns for the actions of a few bad actors. When you don't know about something, you imagine the worst about it, coupled with all the news media outlets spouting about something that has been misused, that thing automatically becomes the evil.
When Cain killed Abel with a rock,
God blamed Cain, not the rock.
-- social media meme
Guns are not the cause of violence and mass shootings; violence is not the fault of a gun. Guns are safe when used properly.
Guns do not kill people; bad actors sometimes use guns to kill people. This is also true for using knives, bombs and many other items and methods.
A gun in the hand of a bad person can be a dangerous thing. A gun in the hands of a good person is no danger to anyone except bad people.
If guns kill people,
then cars make people drive drunk,
spoons make people fat
and pencils misspell words.
-- social media meme
People kill people, regardless of the method used. Even the most secure gun free environment possible evil people will find ways to kill, prison shanks are one example.
Democrats have determined that
when a cop shoots someone,
it's the cop's fault…
…but when a criminal shoots an innocent person,
it's the gun's fault.
- social media meme
Guns have been around for a very long time and only recently have they been used for mass violence events such as mass shootings by a few bad actors.
I recall going to high school in the late 70’s and it was common for many students to have loaded rifles on a gun rack in the rear window of pickup trucks in the school parking lot. There we no threats of gun violence or shootings. People didn’t break into the vehicles to steal the guns.
It’s not the guns…
It’s the little a**holes
you raised with no conscience,
control or common sense

Why Do People Own Guns?
Guns are not only for hunting or sports. They can be used for many things such collecting, hunting (big and small game and predators), target shooting and plinking (shooting for fun), other gun sports, defense, law enforcement. It is not a matter of why someone needs a gun, it is more about their right to own a gun. I found the following excerpt on social media.
Man uses a gun to rob a
Texas convenience store.
Man was shot by every
customer inside the store.

Self-Defense
Did you hear about the 13-year-old boy in South Carolina who used his mother's gun to fend off 2 criminals who were breaking into his house while he was alone? The one he killed was the six-time felon. Unfortunately, these stories don't make the headlines. What would have become of him if he had no way to defend himself?

Many people believe that the foremost person responsible for protecting my family and myself is me. A gun in the hand for defense is better than an entire police force on the phone.
“‘Fire Two Blasts’
From A Double-Barrel Shotgun
To Ward Off Intruders”
– Joe Biden (2013)
The quote above is so ridiculous. Firing a warning shot may make sense in some cases, but if you have 2 shells and fire them both, you are vulnerable while you are reloading.
Why Grandpa carries a gun
My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin.'
I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I just 'feel' inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate...
I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an "ass" whooping'.....

Making up ‘Facts’ as you go
Politicians, activists, and lobbyists are not helping the situation by making statements as fact that are seemingly made up on-the-fly. Much of the false information is meant to persuade people to follow the speaker’s agendas, false agendas at that. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Texas Democrat, who is pushing for further gun control policies, made the statement to reporters, claiming that she has held an AR-15 but wished she had not.
"It is as heavy as 10 boxes that you might be moving,
and the bullet that is utilized, a .50 caliber,
these kinds of bullets need to be licensed
and do not need to be on the street.”
-- Sheila Jackson Lee
The real facts are A typical loaded AR-15 weighs about 7.5 pounds and does not fire .50 caliber rounds, but rather .223 ammunition. The difference between the size of the two types of ammunition is stark, with .50 rounds typically used by the military in heavy machine guns and anti-materiel weapons.

A .223 round on the left, .50 caliber round on the right.
Q: Why does Joe Biden call 9mm luger a high caliber round when it is in fact the lowest caliber cartridge deemed effective as a personal defense round?
A: Biden is a Democrat. Most Democrats are completely ignorant about guns. Anything they say about guns is 99.9% wrong or a flat out lie. Democrats love to toss out terms like ‘high caliber’ and ‘high power’ without having any idea what they mean.
“If you shoot with an AR-15, let's say you shoot a deer,
you can't eat it because you've basically demolished the animal.”

Should Assault Weapons be Banned?
What is and Assault Weapon?
Any gun (or weapon) can be considered an “Assault Weapon” since they can be used to assault people. Many things can be used to assault people including knifes, bombs, poison, etc.
What and Assault Rifle is Not
AR-15 does not mean “Assault Rifle”, it represents the manufacturer of the weapon (ArmaLite Rifle). The AR-15 is a civilian semi-automatic version of a fully automatic military M-16 weapon. They are easy to shoot and can be built to be extremely accurate. They are the most popular competition rifle in the U.S.
The AR-15 was designed with a modular platform that could do all the things many people do with guns, not just in an OK manner but really well. They can be adjusted to fit everybody’s style and do not recoil at a level that bothers even a novice shooter.
Automatic Guns
It is important to point out the difference between semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons. With a fully automatic weapon, as long as the trigger is held down, the weapon will continue to fire ammunition rounds until either the trigger is released or the ammunition runs out, these are sometimes referred to as machine guns/submachine guns. Whereas a semi-automatic weapon requires that the trigger be pulled for each round to fire.
Other semi-automatic (and automatic) style weapons are, the AK-47 (Avtomat Kalashnikova) which is similar to the AR-15/M-16 and is used by the Soviet/Russian military forces, the Uzi is an Israeli weapon and MAC 10.
Previous weapons used by the U.S. military are muskets carried by pioneers, the rifles toted by doughboys (M1903 Springfield, M1917 Enfield, rifles and the M1911 semi-automatic handgun) in the trenches, M1 Carbine used in WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars. M2 carbine used in the Korean and Vietnam wars. M-16 issued in 1964 during the Vietnam war. To hold one in your hands, appreciate its history and design, and to be able to take that piece of history to the range and work, it is a feeling that many people do not understand or appreciate." There are numerous websites that provide technical details about most every gun ever made.
Machine guns can include many gun models including the Thompson (Tommy Gun), M-16, AK-47 and Uzi, providing that these weapons have their original automatic feature. Extreme examples are the Vietnam-era, belt-fed "pig". Since most of these are not high-tech military weapons, most of them are not owned for defense purposes, but rather as collector’s items for their historic value. It is also worth noting that machines guns are not cheap and not easy to find or purchase, and the ammunition they fire is usually expensive. This is the main reason they are owned by collectors who take pride in keeping these older weapons in working order and they are fired during special events and competitions.
Machine Gun Purchase and Ownership
Purchasing a fully automatic machine gun is subject to the NFA (National Firearm Act) rules, particularly the Firearm Owners Protection Act which banned the transfer and ownership of machine guns made after May 19, 1986. A machine gun made before that date can be owned legally, after an intensive background check and tax. A machine gun made after that date is illegal for civilian ownership.
Gun Modifications
Some people do make modifications to weapons, many of the modifications may not be currently prohibited under federal law; however, the laws are rapidly changing.
Bump stocks - assist rapid fire by "bumping" the trigger against the finger (as opposed to pulling on the trigger) thus allowing the firearm's recoil, plus constant forward pressure to actuate the trigger.
Hellfire triggers - is a spring-loaded pedal placed behind a gun's trigger. When the trigger is pulled, the spring quickly pushes it back to firing position, enabling rapid fire. These are not prohibited under federal law because they still only allow one round to be discharged per trigger pull - so the gun is still semi-automatic.
Legal U.S. gun owners have more than 300 million guns
and probably a trillion rounds of ammunition
if they were the problem,
we'd know it.

They Want Our Guns
(Or is the government after us, and our guns are in the way?)
There has been a lot of talk and press about confiscating guns in America. While this sounds innocent and would instantly make a fairy land, this is not a simple task. The bell cannot be un-rung. Since guns are already in the public, eliminating all guns is nearly impossible. This is especially the case with criminals, since they already do not follow the laws, they certainly are not going to give up their main source of intimidation and murder.
When all the guns have been banned,
when all the words have been censored,
when all the history has been erased,
when all the freedom has been taken’
only then will you discover why our
right to bear arms was so high on the list.
- social media meme
Places where guns have been banned include Australia, Venezuela, Mexico and the city of Chicago, IL. The results have not been as expected.
On the other hand, places where gun training is required and gun ownership is encouraged, Switzerland and Israel. Gun crimes are extremely low in these countries since the policies have been put in place.

It is interesting to note that someone previously arrested for burglary wants to take away the guns of American citizens.
Make no mistake, the Democratic Party is out to make it illegal to own firearms.
There are varying statistics regarding firearm deaths in the USA. As with any statistical data, there are ways to bias the results to favor an agenda.
I believe that it is appropriate to limit gun ownership and possession so that unstable individuals do not have access to firearms. This should not extend to limiting everyone.
There are claims that the number of Americans killed in domestic gun incidents since 1960 exceeds Americans killed in all wars. One of the biggest factors used to tilt firearm death statics is firearm suicides. This claim includes suicides incidents with a firearm. Two thirds of all gun-related deaths in the United States are suicides. The fact is that if a gun were not available, another method would likely be sought in most cases.
I believe that the real agenda of firearm control is to make the citizens less of a threat to oppression by the government. I do not believe that the only purpose for the legal right to own a firearm is hunting. It is also for protection from those that intend to harm someone.
It is not realistic that if firearms were to be illegal to own that they would disappear. Those that are not law abiding don't are about what is legal, they will have guns anyway. These same criminals are the type most likely to commit violent gun related crimes, as they do now. The only difference is that the law-abiding citizens will not be able to deter or defend against the crimes.
It is not right to require everyone to give up firearms in an environment where the criminals are not likely to give them up but will use them against an unarmed population.
If your suggesting sending men with “Weapons of War”
to take my “Weapons of War”,
then I’m fairly certain that’s what is called an act of war…

is the reason for the Second Amendment in the first place.

If firearm possession were to be controlled, it would require that the penalties for possessing a firearm or ammunition be substantial and enforced. Sending violators through the current revolving door system would do little to stop the criminals from illegally having them as repeat offenders.
The enforcement of a firearm ban would require a broad search and seizure policy, thus invading the privacy of the citizens.
How about this. Committing a crime with a firearm carries an automatic and mandatory life sentence in prison. That would eliminate the repeat offender.
In summary, if the weapons did not already exist, the banning of them would be simpler, but because there are so many in existence, collecting them all (especially from criminals) is not realistic.

Disarming innocent people does not protect innocent people.
The largest mass shooting in US history took place on December 29th 1890. The US army confiscated the guns of the Sioux Indians “for their own protection”, and then proceeded to slaughter 297 people including 200 women and children. Never let the government be the only ones with guns.
What Can Happen when Guns are Taken from Citizens
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
There are references on the internet that the statements above may not be completely correct in the timing and action, for example, in some cases, there was already gun control laws in place, the action may have been a gun confiscation. Nonetheless, unarmed citizens were exterminated by their own government.
Castro murdered well over 30,000 unarmed citizens.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. You won't see this data on the US evening news or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws only adversely affect the law-abiding citizens, because criminals do not abide by laws.

There's no evidence suggesting that a ban on guns would prevent mass-shootings. It would simply put more restrictions on the self-defense rights of law-abiding citizens.
What Can Happen when Reasonable Citizens have Guns
Maybe the Swiss have it Right
Switzerland issues every household a gun. Switzerland's government trains
every adult they issue a rifle. Switzerland has the lowest gun related crime
rate of any civilized country in the world.
How Israel Deals with Gun Ownership by its Citizens
Israel is in a very tough spot in the world. They have many enemies in close geographical proximity as well as residing inside the country. They have very strict processes for controlling guns. A lot of it is likely due to the government not wanting the internal "bad" residents to have guns. But they do have a very clear-cut system of allowing law-abiding citizens to have and use guns for defensive purposes. This is said to be a major reason that there are not significant mass shooting events there.
About 13 Jan 2017
The National Rifle Association issued a statement in response to the newly signed New York law banning assault weapons and requiring background checks:
“The National Rifle Association and our New York members are outraged at the draconian gun control bill that was rushed through the process late Monday evening.
“Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature orchestrated a secretive end-run around the legislative and democratic process and passed sweeping anti-gun measures with no committee hearings and no public input.
“Hammered out in a backroom in Albany, S. 2230 was quickly drafted and released 20 minutes prior to the Senate vote. It passed as the clock ticked toward midnight.
“This legislation lowers New York’s arbitrary magazine capacity limit from ten rounds to seven. It also greatly expands the state’s existing ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and will require New York gun owners to undergo background checks on ammunition purchases.
“These gun control schemes have failed in the past and will have no impact on public safety and crime. Sadly, the New York Legislature gave no consideration to that reality. While lawmakers could have taken a step toward strengthening mental health reporting and focusing on criminals, they opted for trampling the rights of law-abiding gun owners in New York, and they did it under a veil of secrecy in the dark of night.
“The legislature caved to the political demands of a Governor and helped fuel his personal political aspirations. New York lawmakers have ignored and excluded gun owners throughout this legislative process, but the NRA and our New York members remain committed to having a meaningful conversation about protecting our children and will speak frankly about the lawmakers who have failed to do so.”

Laws Regarding Guns
While there are many federal laws around guns, many of the states have additional laws. It has been illegal to purchase new machine guns since 1986. It is still legal to own, and purchase used machine guns.
If you feel that sensible gun laws will make you lose your firearm,
then you probably shouldn't have a firearm.
– social media meme
The quote above is interesting and deserves some merit. The key word is “sensible”. There does need to be a way to keep guns away from those that should not have them for various reasons. But taking guns from law-abiding citizens is not the solution because those that do not abide by the laws, the laws do not matter. Even Hunter Biden illegally purchased a gun.

Where are Guns Allowed in Public for Private Citizens?
Some of the places they are banned in the White House, Congress, NRA meetings, political rallies, and courts. Most schools ban guns, there has been talk about allowing trained teachers to have guns for defense purposes. Perhaps this is not a bad idea, it may likely deter someone from making schools sitting duck targets.
How to Acquire Guns
Public and private gun show events are regulated and most of the items shown, traded, and sold are legal. As with anything in life, there may be bad actors that attempt to sell illegal items. This is not the fault of the items being sold but rather the bad actors that are breaking the laws. In a future article, I will detail the U.S. governments involvement in providing guns to foreign people, that ended up being used to kill American citizens, It's true.
Guns are Not for Everyone
It is understandable that some people may be afraid of guns (and other weapons). Also, some people have no desire to own guns. Not everyone should own or use guns. This is much like many other things. Motorcycles can be dangerous, and many people should not own or ride them. Not everyone should take up woodworking, there are many potential hazards in that hobby; likewise, not everyone enjoys the Opera and probably should not go to them.
Some people think that semi-automatic (or all guns) should be used only by the trained military. This does not consider the fact that there are many civilian veterans that are military trained to use many types of weapons.
In short, if you don't want a gun, don't get one. Be thankful there are others that do have them and are a deterrent to some of the bad actors that will always have them, regardless of what laws exist. For the most part, vaccines work because of the "Herd Effect", which is, if a large enough percentage of the population is vaccinated, the rest have some protection because a virus will not have enough hosts to propagate very well. Conversely, if very few are vaccinated, they are susceptible to a virus that has many host victims.
Media Reporting on Gun Violence
It seems that many of the major media reporting outlets exercise bias when reporting gun related incidents. They tend to favor a liberal agenda. If the “alleged” suspect is a person of color, liberal affiliation or Islamic background, there is a lot less emphasis placed on that fact and much more on the victims and the guns used and the story goes away quickly. On the other hand, it is a person that is white and has a more conservative affiliation, the story is milked for all the news outlets can get from it and the democrats push the incident to the top of their movement agenda.
A mentally ill white guy shoots black church and kills 9 people,
all “white people” are blamed,
a flag is banned, and a TV show is canceled.
A “Moderate Muslim” walks into a gay bar
and kills more than 50 people in the name of ISIS
the gun is blamed and Islam is defended or ignored completely.

Bad Actors
It is highly likely that the politicians are behind creating the mass hysteria (or news diversions) using mass shootings, especially school mass shootings. The referenced article also points out probable connections to the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing.
See:
Q & A
Q: What steps can law enforcement take to prevent house break ins in residential areas?
A: None it can take 20 minutes for police to arrive.
Q: Why do you need a gun like an AR-15?
A: It's not about 'need', it is a right provided by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to own such a rifle.
Arguments
When the 2nd amendment was created, the founding fathers couldn't foresee firearms other than muskets.
This is not true. The Puckle machine gun was created in 1718, 73 years before the 2nd amendment was created.
Assault weapons aren't necessary for hunting.
First of all, it is NOT an 'assault weapon', Secondly, the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is not about hunting, it's about defending liberty from tyranny.
Are 18 dead and 13 injured the collateral damage the NRA and MAGAs willing accept in order to own their WMD AR-15s?
It’s another lying anti-gun idiot. A WMD has a specific definition, the AR platform of rifles doesn’t even come close to meeting that definition.
Using that “Logic” why aren't you pushing to eliminate Baseball Bats and Hammers due to Gay Bashings and Deaths due to Blunt Force Trauma.
Or Knives, Razors, and Machetes due to Stabbings and Cartel use to chop up bodies.
Or how about Accelerants that are used to burn people alive.
Or Pressure Cookers after the Boston Marathon Bombings.
Or Automobiles that are purposely used to run down people such as multiple Children that were just enjoying a Christmas event.
Where do you draw the line on banning thing because some A**hole goes ballistic, and could have been stopped but the Government that you hold in reverence dropped the ball.
Just remember this when you want the Government to take action…
Reality
It is highly unlikely that outlawing guns, will remedy the bad actors killing people, nor will it notably reduce suicides. Don't let the American government waste millions of taxpayer dollars in an effort to make law abiding citizens and easy target for criminals.
